Dewey Fire Co. Ambulance Squad is a part of the Dewey Fire Company No.1 in Hellertown, Pennsylvania. Our station consists of 4 Pennsylvania Department of Health Licensed ambulances, 3 of which can be ALS (Paramedic equipped) at any time, 1 BLS QRV and 1 ATV. Full and Part time career staff of 47, consisting of 27 EMTs & 20 Paramedics; and volunteer members consisting of 4 EMT's and 2 First Responders.
Dewey EMS provides Basic & Advanced Life Support services to the Borough of Hellertown and all of Lower Saucon Township. Dewey EMS also assists communities surrounding the Hellertown/Lower Saucon area including; Freemansburg Borough, Williams Township, Bethlehem Township & Bethlehem City, all in Northampton County, Upper Saucon & Salisbury Townships, Lehigh County and Springfield Township, Bucks County.
The EMS staff is lead by 6 personnel within the department. While the positions of Captain and Assistant Captain are elected by the company, the positions of Lieutenant are appointed with the consent of the current officers. The EMS Supervisor and Administrative Assistant are hired by the Captain and Assistant Captain.

Dewey EMS is a member of the Eastern Pennsylvania EMS Council, which is a six county governing body for the PA Department of Health. All EMS agencies in the following counties are required to go through licensure by the Eastern PA EMS Council; Northampton, Lehigh, Berks, Monroe, Carbon & Schuykill Counties
Dewey EMS receives mutual aid support from a multitude of stations. This is mainly due to our extensive coverage area. For Basic Life Support, we receive help from the following agencies; Bethlehem Township Vol. Fire Co. EMS (N.C. St. 17), Easton Emergency Squad (N.C. St. 20), Coopersburg EMS (L.C. St. 64), Upper Saucon Township EMS (L.C. St. 72) and Upper Bucks EMS (Bucks Cty.141/142).
Dewey EMS also receives ALS or Advanced Life Support Mutual Aid. The main ALS service that we receive assistance from is Bethlehem Township Fire Co. EMS (N.C. 17) We also gain ALS support from the following agencies; Bethlehem City EMS (N.C. St. 10), Upper Bucks EMS (Bucks Cty. 141/142), Easton Emergency Squad (N.C. St. 20), Suburban Rescue (N.C. St. 27), and Lehigh Valley Hospital MedEvac 1, 2, 4, or 7 from Lehigh Valley Health Network. or PennSTAR 3 or 4, which are part of the University of Pennsylvania / St. Luke's University Health Network.
In an effort to provide the best EMS service possible, we will typically transport to the closest appropriate facility which is St. Luke's University Hospital in Fountain Hill. However, if your condition permits you may be transported to another facility at your request, We will transport patients to the following hospitals:

St. Luke's Hospital - Allentown Campus
St. Luke's Hospital - Quakertown
Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg Campus
